Program Coordinator/Instructor - Vocational Cannabis Program
ANNOUNCEMENT
Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for the full-time tenure track position of Program Coordinator/Instructor for the Vocational Cannabis Program.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this position will develop, teach and maintain courses in the new Vocational Cannabis Program. The faculty member should be familiar with all aspects of the Cannabis Program operation and instructional objectives. The faculty member will develop curriculum for agriculture and other related courses in the cannabis program. The faculty member will also assess student performance and collaborate with other faculty within the department and other disciplines to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction. Opportunities exist for participation in professional development activities and service on departmental, divisional, and/or college-wide committees. Due to the nature of this program, this job requires the ability to use judgement and stay informed of current and evolving federal, state, and local regulations in regards to cannabis in order to ensure the college’s compliance. The faculty member will be maintaining instructional excellence, promoting awareness on current cannabis research and curriculum, and engaging other faculty in opportunities for professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Agriculture in one of the following: biological sciences, agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, chemistry, or related field or 2000 hours of work experience and appropriate recognizable credentials in the field being taught is required.
- Additional master’s level coursework in biological sciences, agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, chemistry, or other related fields preferred.
- Awareness of dispensary/cultivation operations required. Experience related to cultivation/facility operations preferred.
- Experience with environmentally controlled agriculture preferred. Teaching experience preferred.
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Experience in working with diverse student populations preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills essential.
- Shall meet the minimum standards of instruction established by the Board of Trustees for any assigned courses.
STARTING PAY AND HOURS
Commensurate with education and experience.
